Clean beds

I've finished changing the sheets on the bunk beds. What sick F*&K came up with this torture?

What a pain in the nuts!

Next year I'm letting the bed freakin' bugs bite.

Damned Garage Door Opener

My Garage door hates me. I feel sorry for it and my bank account. I'd rather not have to open a garage door opener for Christmas. I really don't want to install the damn thing.

You know the angst the furnace gives Ralphie's dad in A Christmas Story, there you have the struggle between me and the damn garage door opener.

Damn garage door opener. I hope you...you... I hope you work in the morning until then I'll be praying for your health and cursing your ailments.

Damn opener *grumble-grumble*

Narnia

By the Lion, that was a good movie. HP:Sorcer' Stone was the last movie to follow a story so closely. The sp effects where great (I hate that I can still pick out CG stuff, but they used it well). I wouldn't be surprised to see that they did motion capture on a real lion.
A solid 8 of 10 orc heads.

James Cosmo as Fr. Christmas...what an actor. My favorite quote of his is from Braveheart, "Idiot boy!!" as Hamish tends to his arrow wound.

Beliefs and the 'At-home-Dad'

I searched for my compadres in the blog search and found some interesting posts.

I like the "stay-at-home-dad debate" World, there is no debate. Folks are doing what they want and what works for their family. I especially like the posts that include words like "when I have kids..." or "If I get a husband..." I like that these folks are thinking ahead, but mind your blogs when you post of what you do not know first hand.

Fathers at home: I'm one of you. I support you. Don't let the man get you down.

My whole stinking point: Don't talk about folks unless you've walked a mile...

Cheese bagle sandwich

I was just informed that when I pack a bagle with a slice of american cheese for 7's lunch his "brain swells and his eye blazes".

I think I'll pack him a nice salad tomorrow.

Quote from dear old Mom...

"You know where you can always go to find sympathy?"
"Between 'shit' and 'syphilis' in the dictionary"

It's not original, but it's true.

Damn you Fluidmasters

Fluidmaster makes toilet fill valves. The Fluidmaster fill valve in my toilet broke...well too long ago. But today I replaced the SOB. I went to the Hardware store and bought the only brand they had there. That's right a freakin' Fluidmaster. I think the name harkens to their cash flow. Making parts that wear out so some hard working mom/dad can have a job assembling new ones so they can feed his family and put a roof over their head.

Ok I digress. Still pisses me off a little. But now that I know another kid will have Christmas I guess it's OK that this sucks a little.

BTW it still sucks (a little)

Pray for Betty

Rose asked for a Thanksgiving meal from a local organization to be delivered to her very sick brother (Charlie) on Thanksgiving day. Charlie wouldn't be alone all day and would get a good, hot, authentic turkey dinner.

Charlie passed before Thanksgiving. Rose didn't have time to tell the org that Charlie had passed. Charlie's daughter (Betty) was cleaning out his apartment, all alone on Thanksgiving. She didn't have help in handling all of her father's (and likewise her) memories. She didn't want to take the meal. She was afraid someone else would go hungry.

Say a prayer for Betty.
Pray that she be comforted by the good times with her father rather than his illness and absence.
Pray that she see something that Charlie would like and it makes her smile.
Pray that we be like her when someone needs us to and that we have someone like her when we need it.
