McOldSkool
If you haven't seen the Incredibles there is a short snippet towards the end where to old men are admiring the work of the reemerged Supers and state, "Now that, is old school."
Noah need to know what that meant. Apparently the definition didn't mean as much as the visual of the two old men agreeing that there was "no school like the old school."
Flashforward to McD's in the can. Noah sees an septuagenarian come out of the stall and wash his hands. Noah looks at him knowingly and nods, "No school like the old school, huh?"
I don't think the man heard him...

Free range blondes
After lunch the other day I'm sitting at the table reading. 8 wants to go outside and swing. 7 wants to follow, but needs to pick up some legos first. Some time later 7 is done and goes out to play with 8. 7 rushes back in the house saying 8 isn't in the back yard.
I'm on the deck in 2 heartbeats. 8 isn't in sight, not under the deck, not hiding in the shed. I'm on the street looking frantically. Here comes Mr. Smiles and his dog directed by a neighbor mom. I didn't and still don't know what to say.
8 can't say why he opened the gate but his business turned to wrangling Beans when Beans slipped past him. If 8 is correct they were in the street in various states of not-in-the-backyard-edness. I'm getting a pad lock or a dog collar for 8.
I still don't know what to say

Abandonment
My core issue. It is connecting to many parts of my life. Being left, leaving, changing backgrounds and contexts, identity, sense of self and esteem.
This week has forced me to open my old book of tricks, and you know what? I rock. Not just a little but I rock so much that THING will look at me & think "Damn, he rocks"
I am savvy and I can work with folks.
I'm smart. I can figure out networks, home improvement; anything I like.
I'm spontaneous, hilarious, nice, empathetic. Damn good looking I can say with confidence that I am skinny. I can control my impulses and I can succumb to them.
Short story, I can handle my world and interface with others successfully. If I need help I know when I need it and I know what to do. If you are reading this you may be on my short list of people I may call to get centered, grounded and otherwise back on track after a short sanity check. And this is OK everyone has their own Freakouts and ways to cope. Now I have more ways to cope.
I am a coping machine.

I'm 'bout sick of this whole realestate shaft party. From now on we are only buying inflatable housing that can be moved effortlessly.
Disposable dog bodies is another idea. No boarding, no vet bills. It could be like those neat memory chips in cell phones. Just have the K9.cfg edited to your preferences and pick a new vessel every two years.
What else about moving sucks? Moving accounts and services. Judging from every company I'm dealing with I'm pretty sure no one has ever moved from Michigan to another state especially the exotic and distant Boston Area. The cell phone phreaks are my favorite. They can't edit my account to do away with the one phone we don't use so I have start a whole new account after my current one expires completely. You'd figure they would want to give me what I want since I'd like to stay with them. I'd love to go with a new carrier just to deny them the $$. Maybe then they would understand.
Now we are busting with excitement to get in our new pad. We have to get a new couch and washer/dryer. Other crap to come, I'd love a Mac with tiger to play with too.

Bearing of teeth
Every night at 9:30 the dog start "playing"
It consists of exposed teeth and whinny dog sounds
BlockHead (BH) is very protective of everyone to the point of annoying when anyone drives or walks by the window.
Every thing else is adorable. BH coat is so shiny and since he has lost the weight is looks simply stunning. Yes I see beauty in the pooches.
The WhiteSpeckledBananaHound (WS) has been ma bitch for the last few weeks. It's hell on the back and you can forget about rolling over in the middle of the night.
I know life would be more empty without them and we would be more mobile. I think we are spoiled for 2 dogs forever. At least I don't get hives thinking about a 16 + yr commitment.

8 came home from the church nursery yesterday teasing everyone by saying they had an "oversized bun on their head". He screamed "oversized bun" throughout the afternoon. No one knows where it came from but maybe it's a Eucharist thing.
7 had the biggest eruption I've seen in some time. See he wanted to wear this T-shirt to Sunday School and boy did he melt down when I told him he had to wear a shirt with a collar. This was a 5 alarm, you just shot my dog kind of fit. He needed some threads anyway so we went to Sears and left too much $$ there.
I didn't have anything to do in the afternoon so I paced around until NWA took over.
Finally I talked to GOM and had to let him know that if I can kvetch about work from time-to-time. He made like he always thought that. He and GOL are doing this tip-toe thing were they are being gentle with me about the move. I don't know why this unnerves me.
