...the geek or the geek that follows

I achieved a new level of geek. Today I went to REI to spend my gargantuan $19.26 dividend. The granola-munching, still-lives-in-mom's-basement, cross-dimensional-reflection-of-myself sees the wallet and says with the awe of seeing the lost ark prop, "Is that a paper wallet?"
"Why yes. Yes it is." I fill him in on where I found the instructions and feel that I have done my part for the human race today. I now share this with you.

I have been meaning to make a duct tape wallet for sometime but just hadn't gotten all the way to the basement. Then I found these instructions for a paper wallet. All of the cargo space and none of the getting up to go down to the basement to get the duct tape. The first picture is what caught my attention. A thinner wallet. I shuddered. Surprisingly sturdy. I quivered. I've been searching for the minimalist wallet for a number of years. But I had also shunned wallets for business card holders because I thought "billfolds" were dumb (don't ask why I only have half a reason and that half doesn't make any sense).
What the hell, an 8.5x11 paper, two small pieces of tape and scissors (shit the scissors are down in the kitchen -note to self put pair of scissors in office to eliminate walking. I read through the directions once and then actually did it. The whole process from finding the link to loading the wallet took 10 minutes. I learned what a hamburger fold and what a zipper fold is, these tidbits might be useful one day.

No more guilt from having a wallet taken from a cow's hide. Gotta go sit on the leather sofa and watch the Sox.
